       Laravel September 2026 Product Updates
--------------------------------------

Laravel shipped a solid round of improvements in September 2026 across the framework, Laravel Cloud, and Laravel Forge. Here is a breakdown of everything that landed.

---

Laravel Framework
-----------------

### Runtime AI Provider Configuration

The new `Ai::build()` method lets you construct an AI provider on the fly from a plain configuration array, without touching your application's globally configured providers. This is ideal for multi-tenant applications where each tenant supplies their own API key.

```php
$provider = Ai::build([
    'driver' => 'openai',
    'api_key' => $tenant->openai_key,
]);
```

Built providers also participate in failover lists, so your reliability logic stays intact.

### Semantic and Hybrid Search for Typesense and Meilisearch

Laravel Scout's Typesense engine now exposes `semantic()` and `hybrid()` search methods. You can supply vectors generated by Laravel AI, rely on Typesense's auto-embedding, or bring your own embeddings. The Meilisearch engine received a parallel upgrade: it can now delegate embedding generation to Meilisearch's own native embedders, keeping vector logic server-side.

```php
// Semantic search with Typesense
$results = Article::search('machine learning')->semantic()->get();
// Hybrid search combining keyword and vector results
$results = Article::search('machine learning')->hybrid()->get();
```

### Mercure Broadcasting in Laravel Echo

Laravel Echo now ships a Mercure connector. It uses the browser's native `EventSource` API, meaning no additional client library is required. Private, presence, and encrypted channels are all supported, along with whispers.

### Copy or Move Files Between Disks

Two new Storage methods — `copyToDisk()` and `moveToDisk()` — stream a file from one disk to another (for example, from `local` to `s3`). The `moveToDisk()` method only deletes the source file after the copy has completed successfully.

```php
Storage::disk('local')->copyToDisk('s3', 'uploads/photo.jpg');
Storage::disk('local')->moveToDisk('s3', 'uploads/photo.jpg');
```

---

Laravel Cloud
-------------

### Isolated Preview Environments

Pull request preview environments now receive their own fresh resources instead of sharing production infrastructure. Each environment sleeps between reviews on Flex sizes and is automatically deleted when the pull request merges or closes. The Deployments page lists every open pull request with a preview, its branch, latest commit, and a direct link.

### Request Metrics

A new **Requests** tab under Monitoring surfaces request counts, HTTP response codes, and response timings broken down by page. You can filter by domain and time range. No packages to install, no code changes required.

### Managed Database Users

You can now create additional database users for your clusters rather than sharing the default credentials. Each user can be granted read-only or read-write access scoped to specific databases. Cloud generates a secure password automatically. This feature works with Laravel MySQL, RDS MySQL, and RDS Postgres.

### MySQL Storage Auto-Upsize

Laravel MySQL databases now monitor their own disk usage. When a database reaches 90% capacity, Cloud automatically adds 50% more storage while the database stays online. You can configure a maximum size or disable auto-upsize per database at any time.

### Log Drains (Enterprise)

Enterprise plans can stream application logs in real time to an Amazon S3 bucket they own — useful for long-term retention, compliance requirements, or feeding an existing observability stack.

---

Laravel Forge
-------------

### Redirect Rule Management

Forge now supports bulk CSV import and export for redirect rules. You can add rules on top of existing ones or replace them entirely, and drag rules into the order they should execute.

### Server Muting

Mute notifications for individual servers directly from your notification preferences. This keeps noisy staging and test servers out of your inbox without disabling alerts globally.

---

Key Takeaways
-------------

- **`Ai::build()`** enables per-tenant AI provider keys at runtime without global config changes.
- **Scout** now supports semantic and hybrid search on both Typesense and Meilisearch.
- **Laravel Echo** gains a Mercure connector with zero extra dependencies.
- **`copyToDisk()` / `moveToDisk()`** simplify cross-disk file operations in Storage.
- **Cloud preview environments** are now fully isolated per pull request and self-cleaning.
- **Request metrics** are available in Cloud Monitoring with no instrumentation required.
- **Managed database users** allow scoped, credential-separated database access in Cloud.
- **Forge** gains bulk redirect management and per-server notification muting.

 Frequently Asked Questions
----------------------------

  3 questions

     Q01 What does Ai::build() do in Laravel and when should I use it? `Ai::build()` creates an AI provider instance from a runtime configuration array without modifying your application's globally configured providers. It is designed for multi-tenant scenarios where each tenant has their own API key. Built providers also work inside failover lists.

      Q02 How does semantic search work with Laravel Scout after the September 2026 update? Scout's Typesense engine now exposes `semantic()` and `hybrid()` methods. You can supply your own vectors, use vectors generated by Laravel AI, or let Typesense handle auto-embedding. The Meilisearch engine similarly supports Meilisearch's native embedders for server-side vector generation.

      Q03 What changed about Laravel Cloud preview environments in September 2026? Each pull request now gets its own isolated set of fresh resources rather than pointing at production. Preview environments sleep between reviews on Flex sizes and are automatically deleted when the pull request merges or closes. The Deployments page shows all open pull requests with previews, including branch, latest commit, and a direct link.
